There are two measurement modes of weights: one is direct comparison; The second is the comparison of multiple combinations.
1) Direct comparison
Generally, the tested weight is compared with one or more standard weights for verification. In each comparison, the nominal value of the tested weight and the nominal value of the standard weight shall be equal. However, for the verification of E-class milligram group weights, the relative uncertainty of standard weights within the range is large, and the uncertainty component in the measurement process is affected by the instability of measuring instruments and the large surface area of tested weights. Therefore, the method of component combination comparison is recommended for the verification of such weights.
2) Multiple combination comparison
A complete set of weights is compared with one or more standard weights for verification. This method requires multiple measurements of each weight. During these measurements, the combination of weights is different, and their nominal values are the same. This method is mainly applicable to the verification of E1 grade weights requiring high accuracy. Using this method, only one standard weight is needed, the number of measurement formulas is more than the number of unknown weights, and the appropriate adjustment calculation formula should be selected to avoid transmission error.
